# Rantideb Howlader
> Somewhere between curly braces and quotation marks- fully convinced Shakespeare would’ve loved React hooks. Creating stories in both code and prose.

## Summary
My calendar is such a plot twist that it could be Dan Brown's muse, with one foot stuck in JavaScript and the other tripping over postcolonial theory. Equal parts Gatsby’s optimism and Hermione’s curiosity (but still searching for the right page number), I’m just as likely to break my code as to misinterpret a metaphor. Whether I’m building web things that occasionally work or pondering disability theory over lukewarm tea, I gravitate toward the places where code and books get confused for each other—preferably with Wildean wordplay and a sprinkle of Neruda’s lyric mischief. Life zigzags through commit histories, late-night footnotes, and the classic struggle to find semicolons—yet no matter how many exceptions I throw, the quest stays classic: to fix errors in code and culture, and connect people—one story (and one bad pun) at a time.

## Experience
### Airbnb
- **Role**: Site Reliability Specialist (SRE)
- **Dates**: Sep 2025 - Present
  - Monitored and maintained system health across Airbnb's global platform, ensuring 99.99% high availability and a seamless user experience for multiple backend microservices.
  - Developed automation scripts, internal tooling, and interactive monitoring dashboards using Node.js and cloud APIs, reducing manual operational tasks by 30%.
  - Managed and configured CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows, streamlining release cycles and reducing post-deployment incident rates.
  - Participated in 24/7 on-call rotations and incident response drills, analyzing system logs and performance metrics to resolve outages quickly.
  -
  - **Featured Case Study: Incident Resolution & Latency Optimization**
  - • **Problem:** During peak booking periods, a critical downstream pricing microservice suffered connection pool exhaustion, causing checkout API latencies to spike up to 3.5s and dropping conversions by 8%.
  - • **Approach:** Investigated system traces in Datadog and isolated a connection leak in the database middleware. Refactored the connection pool lifecycle, set up circuit breaking via Envoy, and tuned container memory limits.
  - • **Result:** Verified the fix under a simulated 5k concurrent load using K6. Connection usage stabilized, checkout latency dropped from 3.5s to 220ms, and zero pricing service incidents recurred during subsequent holiday traffic.
